FIBA Asia Pilipinas Basketball: The Road to SPAIN 2014
No words can express the immense joy we all felt when Gilas crushed South Korea. The tears running down my cheeks as they finally pull away in the final seconds to secure a ticket to the 2014 Spain World Basketball Championship Games. The entire team showed heart and when Team Pilipinas needed someone to carry the team, at different points each player managed to be that guy. Who can forget Pingris and his iron will, Alapag's three pointers from Manila Bay or Jayson Castro's (William) insane speed that resulted in and ones left and right? What about Jeff Chan's uncannily consistent shooting throughout the tournament or Gary David's timely explosion against Kazakhstan? Marcus Douthit carried us throughout the tournament by leading everyone in rebounds, he even got hurt doing so. Fonacier's smooth and calm play that picks up just at the right moment and Ranidel de Ocampo's dazzling plays that made other big men look stupid. Japeth and his timely dunks/blocks certainly blew the roof off, LA Tenorio and his relentless attitude that glued the entire team together and the MVP for me- Gabe Norwood. In my opinion, Norwood basically did everything for us. He rebounded, scored when needed, played point guard and guarded the other team's best players. He barely sat down to rest, yet, he was able to play with intensity throughout the tournament. Shoutouts to you Gabe!
Now on to the pictures- LABAN PILIPINAS!
See you in Spain bit**es.
