The Zoom KD IV

Nike Zoom KD IV

The Nike Zoom KD IV features a 3 layer Hyperfuse upper that's tailor made to be durable, lightweight and breathable. Check out the mesh on the side panel as well as the lateral quarter near the toe.

A large Nike Swoosh is placed on the midfoot strap of the KD IV which is really smart for Nike since it's very very visible. The exaggerated strap is the key design of the KD IV so placing the Swoosh there makes perfect sense from both the design standpoint and marketing needs as well.

The Zoom KD IV is the first basketball shoe to feature an Adaptive Fit technology. This features a strap that wraps around the entire midfoot and interlocks with the lacing system creating a unique fit for everybody no matter the feet shape and provides a comfortable yet solid lockdown support. See the blue showing beneath the Hyperfuse mesh? That's the strap going from the lateral side all the way to the medial side and then back again to the lateral ankle area.

A large KD logo is seen on the heel as well as another big Swoosh on the medial side. The Zoom KD IV just like all the other shoes from Durant's signature line features personal detailing from Kevin's life. Here we see "Big Chucky" on the outsole which represents Kevin Durant's former coach and mentor.

On the large tongue we see the numbers 3, 4 and 5 which makes "35" with the 4 in the middle. Obviously this is a nod to Durant's jersey number and the number four for his 4th signature shoe.

The outsole with a modified herringbone pattern composed of thunder bolts. This represents his team the Oklahoma City Thunder. The midsole/outsole tooling is basically the same as the KD III with a few revisions.

On top of the outsole we see "WP" which represents his parents and Barbara for his grandmother. Then little number 4s is seen throughout the inside of the thunder bolt traction pattern. For a shoe this cheap, they sure put a lot of effort into the design and the personal touches for Kevin. Good job Nike!

This is certainly his best and most beautiful sneaker to date, what do you guys think? Will you get these on December 3rd?
